Induction week -  September 2010

The week before the beginning of the first semester is known as "induction week"

Some of the details may change; if you are not yet in Edinburgh you should confirm with Moira Ross (Charteris Land 5th floor, (email  - moira.ross@ed.ac.uk or phone +44 (0)131 651 6206) or the Postgraduate Office (educationpg@ed.ac.uk or phone +44 (0)131 651 3122). If you have already arrived in Edinburgh you will find notices about arrangements on the 5th floor of Charteris Land

(details for 2010 are still being updated)

For a complete list of the semester (term) dates and holidays, go to http://www.ed.ac.uk/news/semester-dates

We all very much look forward to meeting you!

You will find it useful to bring with you

  • EFL text books that are used with students in your institution

  • Exam papers from your country

  • Samples of student work

  • Exam results of students in your institution

In preparation for your stay in Edinburgh, look at www.education.ed.ac.uk/crd/tesol and prepare:

  • Look at the description of Edinburgh, with its video and tour round the city

  • The course guides for the four core courses contain book lists - read a couple of books from each

  • You may also find it useful to do some pre-reading: go to the link to "pre-reading" on the menu to find out more.

Arrangements and information about induction week, and how to matriculate, will be sent to you. However, all the information is also on http://www.registry.ed.ac.uk/Matriculation/StudentInformation/Contacts.htm

During induction week you will be able to matriculate in Adam House. Please also have a look at the pre-arrival information
