Pre-reading for the courses
Before you come to Edinburgh, it would be good to do some reading and thinking about the courses you will be studying. You will also find it very helpful to attend a pre-sessional course to introduce you to the skills needed for a post-graduate programme of study - get information about the course we recommend from IALS
The 4 core courses on the full-time MEd TESOL programme will all begin in semester 1, in September. For those studying part-time or by online learning, the programme coordinator will let you know which courses are available in which semester. You may find the following chapters, books and articles useful to read:
Carter, R. and Nunan, D. 2001 Cambridge Guide to Teaching English to Speakers of Other Language. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press has a range of different topics and chapters are written by specialists in different areas. You will find this extremely useful as a starting point for the core courses you will be studying in term 1.
